Saldanha Bay for lunch..

For Seth’s birthday we decided to go on a little adventure to Saldanha Bay! Saldanha is known for its seafood so it took us real quick to find out that ‘Slipway’ restaurant was quite famous for it’s mussels, calamari and old-fashioned fish and chips! We organised a taxi – the only taxi in Saldanha – to pick us up at the Saldanha airfield and take us straight to Slipway. Within minutes I was sipping a glass of wine and taking in the most magnificent scene of boats, a shipwreck and a glittering ocean. Shame – poor Seth couldn’t drink as he was our pilot for the day (on his birthday – shame!). But any excuse for him to fly I guess)

Slipway is what it is – one of those coastal gems that is not known for amazing service (we were more than happy with the service), but more about the food – which is always fresh and delicious! The bar is a typical shipwreck type bar, all wooden and filled with shipping memorabelia. The walls are plastered with collages of customers having party after party. Most of them look like they were taken back in the eighties, so you can imagine how much soul this place has.

Give it a try – and cruise in by plane – it adds to the adventure!
